When you stay at the headquarter hotel, the San Diego Marriott Marquis & Marina, you are supporting the Society. We must sign contracts with hotels in order to get a good rate at the convention center. If we don’t fill our room blocks we are charged fines and then are charged more for the meeting rooms in future years, because we can’t show other cities how we can fill our rooms. Sound like a circle? It is. For every room that attendees stay in within the SPSP block, we get “credit” by the hotel and convention center. Not only does it help this year, but it helps next year and the year after, as this history follows us wherever we go. When we get this “credit” we return the favor by keeping registration costs as low as possible and it also allows us to consider really fun cities!
